The two little fairies couldn't contain their excitement. They had everything they needed at last The great elves were awesome, storing telling giants No one had beaten them in the past
Mary and Hairy had so many magical, wonderful and original ideas But where do they start putting quill to paper They were frozen, immobilised with fear
Then they heard a soft, whisper in the wind "Head to the house of structure There you'll find the three steps On how your story to nurture"
"Let's go!" they exclaimed As they ran across the golden paddock It's down by the river of rainbows Next to Grandpa Maddox
The House of Structure was a little cabin With a great, big, cedar door Three quite particular knocks And you could enter It's decoration you couldn't ignore
There were pictures of shapes in purple frames Adorning the bright green walls On the floor was red polka dot carpet And in the fire were silver balls
But hidden at the back of the little cabin Just past the rickety bend Were the three steps of structure clearly marked Beginning, middle and end
Hairy Fairy stood on the first And a wise old voice did say "Start your story with lots of interest As children get bored easily"
Hairy turned to Mary Her excited eyes said it all "Go in with a bang, the who, and why But try to keep it small"
The voice continued his lesson As Mary stood on the second stair "in the middle tell the plot or the problem "the what next, the why and the where"
On to the last step she did climb The ending was in sight The wise old man gave instruction On how to successfully end their write
They had all the tools they needed To write some fantastical prose Now it was time to battle the elves And win the Golden Rose
