All of our food was home grown in the surrounding land that must have been some 11 acres. We had some of the most exotic fruits and vegetables from around the world non native to where we lived. Some of the people in town not more than a mile away would come and trade with my Dad for some of our fruits & vegetables, buzzing around like wasps to a sweet smell. My father would calmly demand order with his presence although his voice was always subtle and accommodating, His stature was second to none. His firm posture and absolute form, chiselled, sculptured and almost concrete, any pair of eyes that washed over his inch perfect structure could immediately determine he was a man of confident physical ability displaying un natural symmetrical perfection. It was true to be said by the town folk that my father could have hand picked any woman from the surrounding town to share his life with, however his displays of affection and open publication of his love and dedication to my mother was unrivalled and unconditional.
I would help handing out the fruits and vegetables as my father would kneel to my level and pat me on the head, trying to explain which coin was worth what, effortlessly picking me up in his huge hands so I could reach the town folk handing them their change. After the hustle and bustle we would go to our house, where Mum would be watching from the Kitchen window with an expression of warm awe. I wasn't sure if it was for me or the way my father handled me.
