// Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger. //
A handsome fire glinted and crackled in the the twilight that was just now fading into night under the vast California sky. The dark trees around us seemed to loom closer as the air thickened with a chill intensity that sent shivers down our spines and perhaps doubt the security of our fore coming future. Our bodies had been programed to longer have need of specific heat so the fire acted more as a comfort to our raging heart beats and nervous pulses that we all shared but didn't dare to reveal any weakness. Instead, we huddled together and stared blankly into the flames, wondering whether we would be alive tomorrow. At length, the shadows began to engulf us and the fire dwindled. Arya shifted upright as her palms ignited with flames in attempt to rekindle to fire but the blackened wood only continued to die down until it was nothing but a pile of ashes. She frowned uncomfortably at the ground. "I don't like this," she stood up abruptly, looking around, "We need to move away from here. I'm picking up strange signals." The others followed her in getting to their feet and brushing off, all except Logan who remained cross legged on the ground gazing into the dead ashes with a seriousness that could have penetrated a brick wall. "Arya's right," Kyle said, snapping everyone awake from our hazy twilight rest, "If we're going to carry out this mission, we need to be the ones hunting Them, not Them hunting us." At this, I suddenly felt a chill of nerves sink into me. I shouldn't have been scared, but I was. I was supposed to be a hero, a super human, but perhaps a sliver of human emotion was still within me somewhere. Over the past month, Justice had sharpened me like a weapon, I was a death machine now. We were all programed with abnormally high amounts of adrenalin, we were virtually invincible, but why did I get the strangest inkling that there were unknown life forms not a few miles from us with powers we couldn't even fathom...
