Chapter 1 ~ Scarlett Knightshade
I pass the vast streets of Sanctus the Capital city for the Roman Catholic church.
As I walk to the Vatican the citizens stops what they are doing and stare at me in shock, looking at the giant Dragon claw I achieve by defeating a dragon in the mountains of Celesia.
They gasp, whispering to themselves and some concealing themselves in their home afraid of what they see.
I stop, raise my head and gaze upon the Vatican. It stand mighty and holy, shimmering brilliant white and gold, a wonderful place filled with joy and love.
I head to the Vatican Gates guarded by fancy wearing guards.
I climb the stairs to the Vatican, welcome by the guards opening the massive double doors.
"Welcome back Ms. Nightshade," both of the guards say, bowing with respect.
"Good morning," I reply.
"Father John Francis is waiting for you."
"I see."
"He said it's urgent."
I step inside the Vatican to see the altar first and dazzle by it's beauty, feeling the welcoming love of the Lord.
I walk into a restricted room, well taken care off, only to see a large portrait of Angels.
As I step closer the Portrait slides open revealing a staircase lit by torches.
I walk down the staircase. When I reach the end of the staircase a huge double door stands with large round metal hoops.
I push the doors open and Father Francis walks out welcoming me back.
"Welcome back Scarlett. I believe you have succeeded in killing that demon dragon." he looks at the dragon claw I carry.
I chuckle, "Yes I have."
"Oh stop it!" A female voice suddenly commands. I turn my head to see Valentina leaning on the wall with her arms cross, looking at me with anger and disgust.
Valentina is another Holy Knight like me with fair-skin and long flowing blonde hair, and she wears a platinum armor with golden ornaments.
She has a temper against me ever since I became the best Knight. She's been battling over my title, jealous and always enraged when she sees me.
"Oh, it's you Valentina." I say, narrowing my eyes.
"I can't believe you came back alive." she frowns, glaring at me with sure disgust.
Xavier, a handsome and muscular man, another Holy Knight tries to stop her.
"Valentina, stop it. You know Father John doesn't like it. Remember the ten commandments."
She bites her lip in anger and begins to walk away.
"I'm glad Xavier has calmed her down. Again." Father exclaims, sighing in relieve. "I hope this rivalry of you and hers will end soon."
"I hope so too Father." I admit, sighing too. "Now, where do I put this claw?"
Father calls for a couple of equipment workers to carry the claw in a room to be observed.
"However I have bad news for you Scarlett."
I turn to Father, "Bad news?" I say lifting an eyebrow.
"Yes," he frowns. "I believe the next supernatural war is among us."
"You mean, the war between werewolves and vampires every 400 years?"
"I'm afraid so." he says. "That is why I'm sending you to try and end this calamity from happening again."
"But Father it's difficult to end a war that powerful."
"I know, I know. Buy the whole church wishes for this war to stop once and for all. It has caused a bloody end with millions dead around the world."
"No way!" Valentina screech. "Your sending het to a mission like that! Father what is so special about her that you don't see in me?"
Father places his hand on her shoulder, "I treat everyone fairly and so does the Lord. I'm not saying Scarlett's more special than you, you're both equal, no one is stronger than the other."
Xavier tries to calm her down again giving her a glass of water.
"I still don't get why you have to get such a high-ranked mission instead of me!" Valentina yells.
Everyone sighs. She hasn't gotten over it.
"I don't get it! Come on let's fight to see who's stronger!"
