As Jess got up out of bed on the cold October morning she started to feel the butterfly's in her stomach. It was only then that she realised what she was doing. She was moving to Wales, a little town all the way from Manchester. All because of her adoptive family. She stared to the corner of her room where her medium sized suitcase was and wondered if it was to late to unpack and stay in the foster home she had been living in all her life...
As she heard a voice from the lower floor 'Jess are you nearly ready it's time to go' she slowly replied 'yes I'm ready' and murmured under her breath ' to leave all my childhood memories' with a sigh she picked up her suitcase had a quick look around the room and left to get into the taxi that was waiting for her outside.
The journey was mostly silent. Apart from the few questions the driver asked her, he tried to start a conversation with Jess but she just cut him off and looked out of the steamy wet window.
Finally they arrived in the small town in the middle of Wales- which seemed like nowhere. Jess was used to having shops and children all around her but there were no shops in site just trees....
She gave the taxi fare to the driver and slowly started walking towards the house with her foster Mum at the door. Her foster mum was called Tanya she had short brown hair and always wore a dress which hung down to her knees. She was greeted with a big hug and a hot chocolate. Tanya didn't have a husband or a boyfriend so she decided to foster.
After Jess put her hot chocolate down Tanya started telling her about her new school. It was only a small one and it was a half day school. Tanya explained how Jess was going to have to run errands for her after school and Jess smiled politely.
Jess avoided any food Tanya offered her- even though it looked great, she just wasn't hungry. So Tanya finally gave over and showed Jess her new bedroom. It was so much bigger than her previous one. The walls were painted cream, there was a tv in her bedroom! This is something a child from a foster home would dream of. Tanya told her that tomorrow they would be going to the market to get some paint of her choice for her bedroom. Her new foster mum left her to settle in, while Jess reached in to her hand luggage bag to find her sketch pad and pencils. She found them and sat at her desk for 45 mins drawing her new bedroom with blue walls- her favourite colour. As she looked up to look at the clock above her her eyes scanned across a window where a little girl-about six was staring with a surprised look on her face. Jess was also surprised because she recognised the face from somewhere it was almost like they were connected but she didn't know how. She stood up to go to the window but as she did the little girl ran off quickly. She put what she had just seen to the back of her mind and walked downstairs following the delightful smell coming from the kitchen. As she walked into the kitchen Tanya sprung around with a smile on her face and said 'I'm baking shepherds pie for dinner' Jess replied 'that sounds nice!'
She huddled up on the sofa and grabbed her phone and began tp text her friend Amelia. Amelia wasn't very fond of Jess but Jess still wanted to be friends. However a small bump in the road- Amelia was moving to Finland which was disappointing. She texted : hiya wat ya up to? Hows finland? Plz reply x'. And whilst waiting for a reply she started to wonder where she knew that child's face from... Before Jess could carry on thinking she heard a bleep coming from her phone the little red light flashed which showed she had received a text message which said- 'if my bedrooms Finland then yes it's great, I'm not moving until next week and how did you get my number???...' before Jess had time to reply Tanya placed the steam hot cottage pie on the table and they sat down to enjoy the meal. I realised Tanya was glaring at something on the other side of the window,
