I'm soaring through the sky. The wind is running through my feathers as I cut through the air, matching the pace of my ground companion. I am not too high up, just above the tree tops. My wings are mostly still, as I gain even more speed. It is such a clear day, not a cloud in the sky. I can see miles ahead and it feels amazing, it feels like I am on top of the world, like nothing can ever harm me again.
I can easily see Connor. He is a little way ahead of me and looks so majestic in the woods. A native bird lets out a cry of alarm as it see's this foreign creature, I smile to myself and let out a cry of freedom. Connor seems to hear his head cranks upwards towards the sky. He see's me and lets out a roar in return. I circle above his head to let him know it is time for a location check, and then perch on a sturdy-looking branch. "How far do you think we have gone?" I ask him. "Not sure. Probably at least 5 miles." He replies catching his breath. "What could you see?" "Snow. Well, it looks like there is a lot more forest up ahead. It seems endless. We could be in trouble here Connor." The truth is, I'm worried. Not that long ago I was stuck in a little hut, not having any memory on how I even got there! Luckily Connor showed up, (somehow) and he always knows how to calm me down. "Okay then, let's not go straight ahead. What about to the left?" Connor suggests. "I'll let you know" I say, and then fly upwards.
As I am up in the sky again, I look to my left. There is still a lot more snow and tree's, but not as much. Plus, we wouldn't be heading towards mountains anymore either. I can also see something else...lights! Yes, it's a city. My heart skips as I feel relieved. I cry down to Connor, and start flying towards the city, he follows suit.
I am up in the air for a little while longer. As we carry on travelling, the scenery around us starts to change. The paths are getting smoother. and the amount of snow is decreasing until only rare icy patches can be seen. The temperature is getting noticeably warmer too. The sky is getting darker and clouds are beginning to be seen, but it is still a beautiful day. The pollution from the city seems to be making the air thicker; it's time to land.
I pull up close to Connor on the ground, he knew I was coming so stopped short under a tall tree. I stood on a branch so I was eye level with him. "We should change back now" he says before I can even speak. I nod in agreement and close my eyes, preparing myself. I like to think happy thoughts when I change, it takes my mind off of the pain as my bones break and reform. I think of my family, even though I have no idea where they are. Are they safe? I don't know. Are they looking for me? I don't know. Should I be looking for them? I don't know. I just don't know anything at the moment; what's real and what's fake. A thunderous crack brings me back to reality, and then the searing pain makes my eyes fly open. 'The skull always hurts the most' I think to myself. Connor looks just about ready, and very weak. I smile at him, now recovered from the pain. He smiles back, but then collapses on the ground, due to exhaustion. "Come on Connor, we can get to the city and then you can rest." I haul Connor offthe ground and he grumbles at me, but doesn't resist.
We walk a little further and arrive on the outskirts of the city. It is brimming with life! I have never seen so many people in one place. There are little shops and people shouting in a foreign language. I stare at this bustling world with my mouth open, until Connor nudges my arm. I look up at him and he points to a sign above us. I can't read it as it's in the foreign language. I give Connor a puzzled look. "It says," Connor starts to explain, " Welcome to the capitol of India, New Delhi"
