Chapter 7 Finnick
Halle has a sister, Mia.Mia is my age, and we used to be best friends when we were younger. Thats how I knew Halle. Mia got reaped and won 2 years back, but was too scared and tense to mentor. So the victor before her,Mags , took over. It is your task and only job as a victor, to mentor and because she refused, her sisters, Halle and Tee got re entered in the reaping instead of enjoying a life of luxury brought by being related to a victor. And now Halle is here. I could have had Mia as a mentor, but that would have been worse as I would have known her. I look at Halle and I see so much of Mia in her. Her long blonde hair. Her green eyes. Her slight figure. I wonder if she has learnt any fighting skills from Mia, as she won her games by hiding in trees and throwing long bamboo poles at unsuspecting tributes, delivering the death blow. I make it my vow to try and protect Halle, for Mia.
Halle breaks the silence by saying "It's not her fault you know. That I'm here. She just didn't want to do it. Thats not so wrong. It's just chance. My name was in there and I was reaped. It's nothing to do with her!" Halle is shouting now, defending her sister for all she is worth. An Avox comes running and I send him away, saying there is no problem. "It's not her fault" mumbles Halle. " I know. I used to know her" I say, but the minute the words are out of my mouth I regret it. I just made my relationship with Halle a little more complicated....
"We used to be friends. Not that close. Go to sleep Halle, it's the Tribute parade tomorrow." I grunt, getting up and heading for the door. I stop short when Halle says softly. " I know you did. She used to talk about you all the time". I go back to bed with a knot in my throat that I just can't swallow.
