25 December 2012
The stars twinkle in the sky As I reflect on the days events, Christmas is amazing; magical indeed I have now lived through 15 advents.
Waking up early full of excitement I wait for presents and perhaps a surprise, But Christmas isn't the same anymore It's like I've finally opened up my eyes...
I can be happy with the people I have Yet I feel sorry for those all alone, Many souls slouched in the street Scarcely getting by; they're skin, they're bone.
Then there's my loved ones too I've seen them go through so much, Relatives, family, friends dying But my family aren't 'lonely' as such.
We can sit around the warm cosy fire Pretending things are all the same, But deep inside each of our hearts, We feel as though we're to blame.
Children run down the streets with smiles Like they're the happiest they can be, But they're so young, sadly they will learn And they'll see Christmas like you and me.
