I awoke with a start, page stuck to my face. Heavy eyes threatening to close the world from me, with an effort I stood; shovelling books into my arms half-heartedly.
I advanced onwards, in the silence, as the sun began to set; contriving the sense of cessation, like a tired machine halting to its tranquil standstill..
In the middle of the lonesome night she was stood outside; underneath the cryptic night sky.
I dropped the note and the sharp edge resulted in a paper cut. Sucking the sweet blood off my finger, I turned over to look at the time. 00:00.
The pale expression on her face told me something was wrong. She was a tall, thin girl, looking quite mature for a girl of nine, and was wrapped in a dusty, thick blanket.
Watching the chaos unfold from my window, I knew there was nothing I could do.
That dread uneasy feeling A whisper in the wind Don't tell me that a sinner Has returned, and that she's sinned.
It took my breath away by how cold it was, all my body was numb, frozen. I kept on swimming, waves breaking over the top of me, trapping me under water. I was finally free, I had finally been saved.
Chapter 55 As we got back to the hotel my feet were hurting so bad. James and I were holding hands as we walked inside. I took my dress off. And changed in front of James.
I stare down at the deep shades of blue. The water looks icy and deadly. I crouch down closer feeling the spray of the waves burning my face. The wind so harsh and vicious.
An old door, garnished with a rickety bell pull and ornate bronze knocker. Atop the door, stood in majesty a notice, "please take any mail round to the back door" were it's unmistakable, rounded...
Sirens echoed in the distance. Soon they'd find the body. Quite interesting that I give them all the answers yet they do not pay attention. It's really sad though. Human minds are very closed off.
In the darkness eyes watch with deadly precision. Metal gleaming through the shattered window. Crimson pooling in one big puddle. A silent scream forever etched in to her face. Never to be answered.
As she ran out the door, Rob rushed after her. She was on the high street now, but he was closing in. He was so close. He stretched out an arm to try and grab hers ...
It didn't happen like she had thought it would. There were no explosions, no raging fires, no ruptures in the ground... and nothing but silence.
It's morning but I'm still scared as hell. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night, but it's saturday so I don't have to go to school. "Do I really have to go inside?" I think to myself. Yes.
My lighter flared, a small suffocated spark in the cold night air.
