The Hunger Games The first in a trilogy of books. The first book was certainly something that only caught my eye because of the film.

Quinn lay on her stomach, the hard mattress biting into her tender skin.
She throwed me the newspapers.
"You fell asleep." "Hrumhh?" Lydia opened her eyes and was surprised to find her head being cradled in the lap of a boy.
Lydia couldn't remember the last time she was with her family. It felt like it had been decades ago, but it had only been a few days. She didn't know why she was here.
Quinn felt tears of exertion trickle down her chin as she flitted through the maze. All around her the snapping and baying hounds nipped at her heels and ate at her paranoia.
I march with the crowd, my flag flying high. It is our symbol of peace. I watch people get shot down all around me.
She was panting. Again and again ,she climbed over the trenches and the roots of the big trees. The men that had found her were now far behind, but she didn't want to take any risks.
The great sky scrapers ominously overlook the City of Lights. Each one with its own somewhat sinister presence, the public below walk casually home from work at this late hour.
(Careful - Spoilers, if you haven't watched the movie and want to. :S) Now, I have read all the books and were extremely thrilling. When the movie came out I was extremely excited.

Okay, so after mulitple friends nagging me to see the Hunger Games, I kind of gave in. It didn't really look like something I would watch, and the books that come before films are usually better.

I had been dubious about The Hunger Games as a film since I first heard of the project, and I don’t entirely know why.
