He was standing there. Waiting for the green man. The green man arrived. But his stride just never began. People pointed but he never did notice. His stare fixed straight down at the road.

I sat on the unevenly carved, stone bench and picked at the loose rubble. It was the darkest, deepest black I had ever seen. It reminded me of the empty feeling I had inside of me.
As I climbed through the hedge it was clear this was not where I had just come from; this was a strange, peculiar place where everything would be different. Most likely it would be better.
My mind is caving in. I can feel it begin. Crumbling edges. Outside looking in. Foundations shaking. Fragility breaking. Cracks appearing. Despair i am fearing. Losing my grip. Losing my way.
I walk on the sidewalk to the total absence of sound. The penetrating quietness leaves much unknown. No questions are answered while the world sleeps.
