It was raining hard, I turned up my collar and scanned the building across the street. It was quiet, unusually so for this time of night, and in the distance I could hear a dog barking.
Out the office I wondered wearily till I hit the big, towering sculpture of the late mayor redburn. The mayor had been another victim of the shadows cunning charm, luring his wife into killing him.
Chapter 1 - Kayleigh Oh god, no. What had happened to my life, I wondered, and what was I going to do next. "That's easy" A voice whispered. It was the voice of a woman, sounding angel-like.
I walked the road to my boyfriends flat.I was so excited.
He was unnoticeable at first but he was there. In the middle of the street. He stayed there for about a minute. He didn't move at all. Even with the hail and the taxis.
As the sound of his alarm resonated through his skull, he rose from the comfort of his bed and trudged immediately over to the coffee machine his mornings so dearly loved.
Allie dashed out of detention, sprinting down the road, looking, hoping that she hadn't missed the last bus. But she was too late.
