I started to move deeper into the wood, picking up sticks and twigs that would be suitable for a fire. The wood became darker as I strolled carelessly deeper.
Chapter 6 <~> "Look there's a park!" Beth giggled when we arrived. Sure enough, the pub had its own play area behind. "Toby, me and Leroy are taking Beth on the park," I smiled.
The boy at home alone, whistles and hums. He plays and he laughs, and all day has fun. Never realising the evil beneath him, under floor boards and flower beds.
The child lay awake, oblivious to what was going on downstairs. Something papery gently brushed against her foot, making it twitch. She sat bolt up in bed and turned the light on.
"Bed time now, come on you got school in the morning" Susan spoke with authority this time, so as not to be ignored again. "Oh mum can't I just stay up for half an hour please?.
The girls sat down under a tent made from duvets. Kitty switched on their torch and held it under her face.
The dim headlights of my truck make a narrow passage of light ahead of me. The road seems empty but knowing that it is not makes me anxious and my movements uncontrolled and jittery.
