Hello again, and today is Saturday, January 5, 2012. Here's a poem I wrote for y'all. Enjoy.
He supposed his jitters were enough to Exclude his participation in his Trial. But although he did all that he could do To avoid it, it couldn't be helped: this Was a doomed endeavour from the outset.
Heart flutters, pace quickens Lips pursed, breath thickens Light on you, almost blinding Brain scurries, picking, finding, 'Spill it, we know it. You killed the man. 'Admit it. You shot him.
A lawyer was questioning the testimony of a witness to a shooting. "Did you see the shot fired?" " No, sir, I only heard it." "Stand down" said the judge sharply.
A woman was being questioned in a court trial involving slander. "Please repeat the slanderous statements you heard, exactly as you heard them," instructed the lawyer. The witness hesitated.
Chapter 1. Believe Me. "How do you find the defendant?" The judge asked the jurors. "Guilty." The verdict was expected. We had all seen the evidence. I turned to watch Crystal in the dock.
Tie around my neck, Loosened with the stress. The witnesses lay before me. My client under duress. I'm not sure about my next move. I'm really feeling this heat. But my defence has slipped away.
Fine put me on the stand, I'll go right on up And tell the whole courtroom How I've had enough.
An Irish farmer named Seamus had an accident with a lorry, and was suing the lorry company. In court their hot-shot solicitor was questioning Seamus.
When my head hit my pillow, I was out like a light. My mind was still going through and reliving what had happened earlier that day.
I wrote the following poem a number of years ago (aged 14!) in response to a series of dramatic monologues known collectively as 'Stobhill' by Edwin Morgan.
