Systems of education. *long rant I was midway through a popular mobile game in which hostile birds destroy little green pigs, when I received a random text from someone I had went to uni with.
The question is why . Why is it hard . School gets you sad and education gets you a long term accomplishment What do you want fun or happiness after. You want to get a degree .
I have just read this in a book and just had to get it out to a wider audience. It echoes my feelings entirely.
why do we need school??. music~we have YouTube for that. Spanish ~i watch Dora. English ~everything is shortened anyway (brb,idk,lol). geography~i will buy a globe. history~they are all dead anyway.
Love him or hate him , he sure hits the nail on the head with this. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school.
School. It's a phase everyone's gone through. But looking back, did school help you. Did it push you towards what you wanted to do. Or did it lead you to conform.
At A-level I am studying English, History, Religious Studies and, begrudgingly, Geology. I would have liked to have studied another creative or human-based subject instead of geology.
I once asked a philosophy professor, 'Can you give me one clear cut example of what differentiates humans from other animals?' She replied 'The ability to reflect on poetry.' 'Fair enough' I said.
