Sally - 13th August

Sally unraveled the laces of her shoes, and kicked them off from where she was sitting on the third step of the stairs. How did life get so complicated so quickly, she wondered. Sure she'd broken up with Ryan yesterday, but she really didn't expect to feel so lonely so quickly. Sure... He still lived with her. But working different jobs and different times meant they were worlds a part. It was one of the reasons she broke it off. She worked nights, he worked days. It was impossible to keep what they had going when they didn't see each other, and hadn't had sex in two months. It was really no wonder why he had cheated. He wasn't getting what he needed, and he admitted it. Well, he apologised afterwards, and told her right after it happened hoping that the truth would save him. Sure, it saved him having to pretend that he cared any more. It had become apparent that nothing was really between them any more. She supposed neither of them really wanted to be alone. Well... She certainly didn't.

The phone rang, interrupting her mind babble. Luckily she had set it up to display... Josh hadn't stopped calling since last night at work when she told him that things with her and Ryan hadn't worked out. A glimmer in her wanted to plunge for the phone and answer it, as if the rebound was trying to coax her in. Instead, she let the voice mail pick it up, and headed to the kitchen to rummage... Listening intently to the message that was being left on the phone. "Hey Sally, this is the fifth time I've called, and the third message I've left. I know you're probably in and just ignoring me, I just wanted to check you was alright... Bye." A little part of her heart throbbed, Josh had been a good shoulder through out all the problems she had had with Ryan. He was like a really close brother that she could confide in about her troubles, and never be judged for it. But lately he'd been given her far to much unbrotherly attention. Probably sensing that something was going to arse of tit with Ryan. Sighing, she set the tub of Ben and Jerry's on the side, and tapped it three times with a spoon. Comfort eating wasn't the solution here... She glanced over to the cupboard... Nor would Vodka. Placing the ice cream back into the freezer, she decided something.

It was time to look for a new job, and a new city to live in. Norwich really wasn't cutting it any longer and with only friends here to keep her, it wasn't like she had much to lose.

Setting up her laptop, she began setting up plans for a new life.
