CHAPTER 13 I turned on Max. My eyes full of tears "I don't want to hear your story or excuses ok just leave." He did. "You should really give him a second chance what he said was true." Vicky said wiping my tears
"Yeah but…" I couldn't think of anything to say. Perhaps I had been a bit harsh. Vicky told me that the hospital will let me leave half an hour. Vicky help in out of the bed. And walked me down to the bottom floor. She walked me to her car and we drove home. Vicky helped me to the door and said "Call me if you need help, bye." and she drove off. I walked in calmly. "Max?" I called. There was no answer. "Max?" I said again. I checked every room of the house and the garden. I looked out toward the drive and noticed his car wasn't there. Where was he? I tried his mobile but no answer came. I called Vicky and she was over in a flash. She drove round the neighbourhood and asked everyone if they had seen him but when she came back she shook her head. No Max, where had he gone?
{5 months later} Max still hadn't turned up. My arm on the other hand was much better and the stitches had been taken out.
Today was a Tuesday. Max still wasn't back. All through the day I sat on the bottom step, by the door, waiting for him. I had work but I never went, I was afraid of missing Max if he came to the door. I was soon sure that I was bound to loose my job at the cafe but I didn't care. After a while I kept getting bills demanding their payment now but I still waited for Max. One day I got a call saying that I would have to evacuate my house if I didn't pay the bills or mortgage. I just grumbled yes or no in the right places but I still didn't know what they were saying.
Days passed, weeks past, months past, with me just sitting there by the door waiting. Every day I got sadder and sadder. Max still never showed up.
Just as the mortgage people had said if I didn't pay, which I didn't, then I would have to leave. In just a week all my things had gone.
I was now living on the street. All I had was one pair of clothes and a blanket. I slept by the woods as it was nice and dry there. And not many people walked past there so it was quite private. I guessed that neither my family or friends had heard what happened. I didn't want to tell them. But it happened. They did find out. They watched the news. Yes, I was on the news, as a rough homeless rag. The police had found me but I didn't move. I wouldn't move. Not until Max came back. I said that on tv. I hoped that Max was watching. But he still never came. Vicky did and mum and dad. "What are you doing here?" Vicky said, stupidly
"I wonder," I said sarcastically "Max gone, No money so I couldn't pay the bills..." Vicky nodded and smiled nervously. "How long have you been like this?" Dad asked pulling in my hands to make me stand up.
"Few months probably." I replied. Mum gasped nearly in tears. They left me there as they went to go get the car and another pair I clothes for me. I sat there quietly waiting for them when I heard a voice. A voice I recognised. "I'm sorry." it said again. I turned round and my mouth dropped in disbelief.
