(modern day take on the wonderful tale by Sergei Prokofiev)

Once upon a time, a little boy named Peter (who for reasons which are not very plain) Embarked on a path of treacherous deceit In a desperate bid for a moment of fame

In the dark of the night his story was born He created his very own 'Wolf'' Safe in the knowledge that in his sad cyber world It would be difficult for peers to find proof

The boy warned all the good people Of this prowling beast How it seemed it was him he was after! The wolf was vicious, he wrote, Peter's days were numbered And his world was now empty of laughter

The good people in town mustered up strong support- One by one they gathered around And promised the boy they would help him to fight The dreaded curse of this poisonous hound!

Flattered by the attention and hungry for more Peter's beast grew and grew every day The boy begged the people to stay by his side- To follow his story and to pray

But of course, in his world, the wolf wasn't real What an elaborate web he had weaved! Peter had to think quick, to free himself from these lies To backtrack from all those he'd deceived

Realising too late, the error of his ways Peter tried to undo what was done Out loud he thanked God! And told all that could hear That the Beast, had for now, turned and gone!

Some felt they'd been duped, others just felt sorry.... Some of the good people stayed true Found it hard to believe after all that poor Peter Would do that to me and to you?

Take heed all that read, of the sting in the tail For all those who concoct such a lie What goes around, comes around As poor Peter found- His fate is above you and I

For I heard that this story, had a twist in the end It seems the Devil was involved in the deal And some time later, when all was quiet... Satan came calling- And Peter discovered his fake Wolf was quite real....
