It was the summer of 2005 When we had the First of our Last Chances Decided without each other we couldn't survive... Cue long walks and cheek to cheek dances

We fell back into love through the Autumn Once again we were fresh and new But the quirks and the snipes became troublesome Another ending soon came into view....

The fake promise of Christmas overcame logic How could we possibly spend it alone? New Years Eve without you would be tragic Hence temporary peace settled over our home

The Second of our Last Chances Swept in swiftly with the New Year With resolutions of reborn romances From trouble, again, we would steer

By the time our Last Chance was on it's fifth run Two more spring times had been and then gone Realisation there could be no happy ending Should have prevented it going On and on

Days filled with reprisals and bitterness Nights consumed with 'I'm sorry' and breathless love Still we agreed to agree that a Tenth Last Chance was preferable, when push came to shove

But how many times can you declare 'a fresh start' Before your words lose all depth and meaning? It's not that you really want to try again at all It's fear of the unknown that stops you leaving..

Better The Devil You Know goes the saying And yet it trapped us in unhappiness and dismay There were countless reasons why we should have parted- And not one single reason to stay

The Last of our Last Chances Finally ran out one chilly September But in keeping with rose tinted nostalgia It's still the good times I mostly remember.....
