The UK has a reserved attitude towards International Law, elected officials being the ones who sign treaties make a provision for allowing the UK time to enact the stipulations within the treaty to give it affect. So when the news states that the UK is under the thumb of other countries. This is not a very true statement, the UK is kinda middle of the road.
