There it goes.
There you go.
Why do I now feel the pain that we both shared?
Now your eyes are cold.
Why do you walk away without the burden I feel?
Where did it go?
Where did it go so wrong?
I used to have a million dreams, ones before you and ones with you. Why now, can I not make ones after?
Life moves on you say, well yes it does. We speak minimal words. I sit there watching you across a table we once shared. I try and find you through your words, I search for your smile or that glimmer of hope.
But.
It's not you, you are not there. A stranger sits before me, table 60.
Without the removal of her coat, I know this stranger will not stay long.
"Life goes on, a long time has gone." I hear the mumble of her words. Then she gets up and I watch that stranger walk out the door, the life I had once before.
I utter the words, something lodged. "Life goes on, but it doesn't mean it's right."
