Chapter 1 (continued)
...I rested my and upon the cold concrete and waited for my last breath...
I tried to stand but the pain was holding me down like a brick. Suddenly I lifted my head (even though it wasn't a good idea because it felt so heavy) because I heard footsteps. Tap, tap, tap. The footsteps continued rapidly, getting louder and louder until they were seconds away from me.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" I heard a soft voice call.
"Yes, help me!" I pleaded, my voice rough.
In a matter of seconds I knew I would die and I would be in heaven. This thought pushed all others out of my head and it stretched across my mind, leaving no room for any other thoughts to settle there. I found it really hard to breathe now and I closed my eyes. Just as I was taking some of my last breaths, I felt cold hands lift me off the floor and pushing me into their chest. This stranger staggered slightly under my weight, before running through streets, all the while covering my wound with their cold hand. I could tell we were getting closer to the hospital because I could hear sirens and voices. I wasn't sure if I would make it in time though. Would I die? Or live?
