It was the end of my last year at secondary. Ben and I were closer than ever and so were Beth and I. We had all completed our exams ages ago and were awaiting the results. Ben and I were going on our tour of Europe for the holidays; it was going to be dead romantic!

After school on the Friday Beth, Ben, some of his friends and me went out for a nice meal. It was really fun. We stayed out for ages and when I got home I was exhausted. Ben and I agreed not to meet up over the weekend, which felt really weird as we had gotten into the habit of meeting up when we weren't at school. I tidied my room and then went shopping on the Saturday. On Sunday I packed my bag and made sure I got lots of rest for the flight. Ben greeted me, at the airport, with a hug and a kiss. Both of which I enjoyed very much! He led me into the cafeteria and we bought some breakfast. Both of our parents stayed with us until we started going through all the security stuff. Ben and I held hands the whole time. At about seven in the morning we boarded the plane. I fell asleep cuddled up to Ben and spent most of my time on the plane dreaming. I woke up and went to the toilet and bought some food but by that time we were almost there. Our flight was slightly delayed and we arrived in the damp and bleak France at nearly lunchtime. For our first taste of Paris we went a cute little restaurant on the corner of the street. It had flowers climbing up the side and beautiful smells drifting though the open window. A small bell rang as we wandered inside. There was a quiet hum of people chatting, in French, but apart from that there was no noises. An elderly woman with thick grey hair stood behind a cream counter. She sipped a cup of tea as we approached her. "Hello, dears." She beamed at us. She spoke in a French accent but was very fluent in English. "What can I get you? A drink or how about a baguette?" We both ordered half a baguette and a hot chocolate each. The woman led us to a table and so we sat and waited for our food. After a couple of minutes she walked over with our plates, she sat down and began chatting to us. "So, where are you two going?" Between mouthfuls we took turn answering her. "We're travelling around for our summer break!" "That sounds like fun! Where have you been so far, anywhere nice?" "No, actually, this is our first stop!" "Oh, wow! I feel privileged!" "Thank you! I love your little shop, by the the way! It's so cute!" "Thank you, my dear. I'm afraid I'm in a lot of debt! We don't get many customers!" "Really? I would have thought with being so close to the airport you'd get lots of customers!" "Well, France is all about the food! And the tourists are all about France! What I'm trying to say is that people want to go to the fancy places; try snails and champagne." "We'll I like it here!" The woman seemed really nice! It was a shame she didn't get many customers! We left, about, half an hour later. We found a lovely little hotel near the heart of France that nobody had ever heard of. I really needed the loo so as soon as we got there I ran to the bathroom. The toilets were all posh and lovely! But I wasn't concentrating on that! Something was wrong, really wrong…
