I unlocked the door to the flat, and walked in. Kay was perched on the coffee table, biting her nails. When she saw me, she leaped up and flung her arms around my neck.
"Where the HELL have you been?!" She yelled.
"It's Ok!", I soothed, kissing her gently on the lips, "I'm back, everything's fine!"
I felt like I had been saying that allot lately. It was always me who was left picking up the pieces. I hated it, but I'd have it no other way.
"Where's Jonny?" I asked.
"He's at the gym, he's really stressed. I'm worried about him, Red."
"I know, me too." I replied.
"Well, I guess I'll get a move on with your room. Why don't you head down the gym, see if you can find Jonny." She said, picking up a bag full of DIY supplies.
When I arrived at the gym, I felt very out of place. Huge beefy men looked down on me, as if I was something they'd eat for lunch. Which I probably was. I walked around for a while, there was no sign of Jonny anywhere. So I decided to use the opportunity to pump some iron! I walked over to the corner and attempted to lift some weights. Let's just say, I won't be doing any heavy lifting for a while. Then I saw a treadmill, it was blue and red, and had my name all over it. I ran on the treadmill for a while, and then decided to take a shower. I felt very intimidated as I walked into the bathroom. As I opened the door, to my surprise, there was no one in there! That was quite a relief really, as I didn't want all the body-builders to be judging me. Which I knew they would. As I was about to take my clothes off, and have a quick shower, I heard a quiet sobbing coming from the cubicle on my left.
"Hello?" I whispered.
I didn't want to draw attention to the situation, by yelling: "HELLO!"
My answer was:
"Red? Is that you?"
It was Jonny! He opened the door, and I saw him. He had cuts all over his arms and legs. There was blood everywhere. I knelt down and tried to cover the cuts, but he kept flinching in pain.
"How did this happen?" I asked, quietly.
"It was a few hours before... Robbie.... They found me... And.... Well, this." Jonny answered.
It was like a scene from SAW. I found a towel, and mopped up his bloody legs and arms. Jonny's broken leg had completely healed, he still walked with a bit of a limp, but he no longer needed crutches. And as for his arm, it was swollen, but nothing more. We got a taxi home, and walked up the stairs to the flat. We unlocked the door, and I could hear Kay singing along to something. It was coming from Jonny's room. Me and Jonny grinned at each other. Jonny flopped down on the couch and put the TV on. The X Games were on, and we looked at each other. Jonny's leg and arm were completely healed. That meant that he would be able to enter! I opened the door to Jonny's room, and smiled. Kay was standing on a small stepladder painting the ceiling. I wanted to take her by surprise, so I sneaked up behind her, and grabbed her. She screamed playfully, trying to fight me off.
"No! Let go Red!!" She snorted with laughter.
She ran her fingers through me hair and kissed me. Then, she wandered into the living room, and almost fainted.
"Jonny!", She screamed, "What the hell happened to your arms and legs?!"
He shook his head, and replied:
"It's Ok, I'm fine, see?"
So that afternoon, we were going to head down to the skatepark, it was barley two months until the Skate Off. If we were even going to stand a CHANCE of winning, then we needed more practice. I sat back on the fluffy sand, and watched Kay and Jonny. They were brilliant! How was I going to compete with them? Then I remembered. We all wanted to win. For the first time since meeting them, I realised that we were going to be against each other. This wasn't just for the money anymore, this was a test of our friendship.
