Laurel grabbed the key and sprinted out the door grabbing a sprite and some cookies and a couple of her special homemade dragon cakes.
The forest looked very inviting that day. She wandered through whistling. The old mine was just up this path. The branches on the trees swayed in time to Laurels breathing and they seemed to whisper magically as if they knew what Laurel was up to.
The hill soon appeared and Laurel brushed back the leaves to the canal under the hill. Her boat was parked up ready and the oars too. She loaded her pack into the boat and then sailed off. It was pitch black but Laurel was not afraid. She had been down here many times. The oar swashing through the water echoed in the tunnel. A low growl grew from further down the tunnel. Laurel knew she was nearly there.
She braced her self for the bump. BUMP. The bow knocked the end of the ancient canal. Laurel picked at the moss on the ground. Light began to seep under the door. Laurel could just about see the key hole. She fitted the key and walked inside.
Kiruba was perked up in her stable scrapping on the door. Iris lay in the bed of moss snoozing quietly. She awoke and both dragons turned to her when she entered.
"Hello you two!" she smiled.
"Come on Ki, out you come" Laurel undid the latch on Kiruba's stable and the little dragon bounced out. Her mother Iris slowly rose from her bed and walked calmly over. Laurel smiled and placed her hand upon Iris nose. It was very warm. She ran her hand down the dragons back beckoned Kiruba. She attached Iris's saddle and leaded the two dragoness together. Then she began to undo the latch on the roof. She finally opened the door and flakes of mud spilled from the tunnel. She mounted Iris and the rose up the tunnel. Kiruba who was too young to be ridden saw her mother disappear and flew up to follow her when she felt a tug on the rope around the neck. They rose up the tunnel. They where soon going to erupt out of the hill.
