The first time that I saw you, you were playing "Catch the Wind," Strumming away on your guitar, with your cheesy grin. I can still remember drinking all night long, We played our songs together, you called me "Gypsy John".

You didn't know a lot of things, but you knew how to live. You were only twenty-four, with so much more to give, And though the journey's over, before it had begun, You never gave up reaching, trying for the sun.

It seems I only turned around, And now you're gone, And I don't know the reason why you had to go. This is my last farewell, This is my song, To the greatest folk rock rebel I will ever know.
