Real life is better than TV.. From the office window we spy a middle aged man running towards the bus station. He seems anxious, looking back over his shoulder as if pursued. No pursuer can be seen. He stops by the red brick wall that guards the car park, peering back up the road towards the river and its lining of pubs. He jerks, as if struck, then turns and runs again, heading for sanctuary of the shopping centre. Just as we think his pursuer may be imagined the mobility scooter and it's cargo of hollering, abusive old geezer, zooms into view. It moves faster than a man can run, we had no idea these things could move so fast, it's like finding out a docile family pet is a vicious killer. The angry, rude scooter man has to drop his fist and grab the vehicles controls as he nearly drives off the high pavement turning the corner round the side of the car park. He disappears from view but leaves us with some muffled profanities. We look at each other to confirm we had all seen the same thing and wonder way no one had filmed it with their phone, so we could watch it on computer or TV.
