Our science took a huge leap forward the day the object fell from the sky. It was during one of the more aggressive cycles; the clouds had turned a baffling deep purple with strobes of blue lightning, illuminating the storm’s underbelly. I was close by when the ground shuddered from the hit. I was used to the quakes caused by the storm, but this one felt different. It happened just after the ritual desertion of our parents from their young, leaving us to fend for ourselves. We were inside as a pack seeking shelter and company. We rushed outside to see what had happened; I was the first to arrive.
My God what a sight it was! I had never seen anything quite so spectacular. The object was large, maybe ten times my own height, and was bright white, as bright as it could be with a sky as dense as ours. It was almost entirely round, except for one side which blazed with flame-less heat. The rain seemed to just slide off its glazed surface, leaving no damage in its wake. One of the droplets edged down the side of the object, bringing my attention to a translucent patch of material. As I stared closer I began to make out something inside; the outline of a figure. I concentrated my gaze even more, was it moving?
Then the wardens came...
