• Bicycle vs Taxi
Who would have thought that just a normal bicycle can outrun a four wheel engine combusting vehicle. There are still five minutes left on the clock before it strikes 2pm and that is when my maths class starts. It is raining outside and for some reason it has been raining cats and dogs for quite a period of time in Portsmouth. Anyways Mel, one of my housemate suggested that I should take a taxi with him to class but I insisted on riding the bicycle because,, well mainly cause I have no cash at the time.
His taxi came and I took off with my bicycle. The race starts. I cycled off quickly leaving the taxi behind, taking every shortcuts available, dodging pedesterians and it felt really dramatic because it began to rain heavily. "Oh why didn't I just take the cab", whispers my heart. Well it is too late to turn back now and its almost halfway to the class, might as well finish the race.
The last corner before we reached the building came around and I saw Mel's taxi approaching slowly from behind. I went faster, taxi's closing from behind and... Yeah! i reached the corner first which ultimately makes me the winner of today's race. Makes 20 minutes cycle turns to 10.
My personal happy moment:)
P/S: it was unfair to the taxi because it had to go through many traffic lights, well main point is that; never underestimate a bicycle!
