1 December 2012

I know it's late,

But it's so cold,

Let me in,

And you can scold.

I know I'm bad,

Was bad to you,

It's snowing now,

It's seeping through...

My battered coat,

Dear, let me in,

Apologising,

For every sin.

I know I'm worse,

Than all before,

You've yelled and hit me,

Do it some more.

I'm bad, I'm crude,

A husband; no!

Just please don't tell me:

'You must go!'

It's getting colder,

Ice on ground,

I'm waiting, older,

My fist won't pound-

Upon your door,

I'm freezing here,

You've got my cries,

You've got my fear.

Let me in.

Please, I know,

That I was wrong,

I've sunk so low.
