One by one the lights blinked off, And everybody screamed.

And in the dark they realised, That this is what they'd dreamed.

A dark, dark world, no end in sight, Void of energy.

Had they listened, years ago, From this they might be free.

Memories and guilt struck thick, Of all the wrong they'd done.

They realised they'd fought the Earth, And oh, the Earth had won...

Leaving lights on, taps still run, A frenetic flow of wires.

Icy floes and oil trapped deep, Resources? All expires.

Still no rations; shit for food, Water dark as dirt.

Cries of pain and charities, Suffering and the hurt.

As the lights blinked out it fell: Silence, crash in waves.

And in the dark they realised, They'd dug their own deep graves.
