Seconds in their fractions upon fractions do not stop and think of how fast a minute of the hour go by,
The minutes have no idea what makes the seconds so fast, jumping from a millionth of a second to another,
It is as though, whilst the minutes rupture into a steady continuity, the hour is left with but one choice,
Tick away, tick away, ever counting forward, never backwards, and while we sometimes wish it would come into a stand still, if only for a second long or perhaps move faster, if only for a second's worth,
It is just a slave in its own mechanism, bound by its very nature to serve that single most significant purpose,
Tick tick away,
