Hey guys this is the LotR fanfic type thing. This is a trial if you think I should continue tell me through either means. Just a warning this is following the film so if you haven't seen the film I suggest you do!! (You're missing out) I do not own these characters they belong to the great and powerful J.R.R. Tolkien (god rest his soul) although do own my made up character (of course) err that's all. Enjoy. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It was another quiet day in the shire. The sun was shining in a perfect blue, cloudless sky onto green patchwork fields. The only sound was the faint murmur of the townsfolk talking, the busy streams and rivers which flowed brightly through and the rhythmic clip-clop of Tiny, my pony's, hooves on the floor as we walked home. "PIPPIN!" The sudden shout made Tiny rear up so I almost slipped off of his back. "Down boy" I cried leaning forward so all four feet would return to the floor. "PEREGRIN TOOK!" The yell sounded again, I had to smile to myself, it was sent out for my best friend - what had he done this time? "Mrs Took can I ask why are you yelling your sons name out for the whole shire to hear?" I asked reaching his mothers house; where she was stood at the end of her garden path peering around the shire visible from that point, behind her two of her three daughters shaking their heads in the door way to her Hobbit Hole. I spent a lot of time there as a child, and still now, she's the closest person to a mother I have since mine died. And her daughters were better sisters to me than my own pair. "Because Miss Headstrong that son of mine has run off again with that Brandybuck and left his scarf" she explained holding up his infamous, grey plaid scarf he wore everywhere. I smiled inwardly as she explained her situation; he, Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck and I were best friends and always getting into trouble, it was only last night they got the whole shire into uproar by setting off a firework, of Gandalf the Grey's, which happened to look like a dragon and scared everyone into a frenzy. If there was trouble it was likely that those two would be the cause, and more often than not I would not be too far behind. "He can't have gotten far" I smiled looking across the visible fields for myself where, in Farmer Maggots' field, I could see the ocean of green crops being disturbed as if someone were to be running through them. "I could find him for you?" I offered always ready to join them on any preposterous scheme they came up with. Sometimes we'd be away for days, camping out; disturbing the peace in some form or another. "Oh would you? I'd want him to have it, so Farmer Maggot has something to strangle him with - if he finally catches him that is" she laughed handing me the scarf before disappearing into her house, daughters in tow. Wrapping the scarf around my neck I set off in pursuit.
Unfortunately a short way from the Took household I came across a group of girls that loved to make fun of me no end. Rolling my eyes, I pulled the hood of my grey cloak up over my head and kept my head low trying to wish them not to notice me. I would not be so lucky. "Alvin have you seen *my* Pip today?" The Hobbit at the front sneered blocking my path. The Hobbit in question was Diamond Of Long Cleeve the bane of my life. "One. It's Alvny no I. Two. He's not *yours*" I replied far too politely for her. "Oh and you think you have any chance? *Alvin*?" She scoffed making the rest of the group snigger. "You don't know him like I do" I retorted simply keeping my annoyance hidden just to, ironically, annoy her. "And after all these years he still hasn't courted you?" She commented a sly smile spreading on her face. "As I said: you don't know him like I do" I repeated calmly. "Well I'm not worried about the 'so-called' competition, it's not like she's worthy of him anyway" she addressed the group which I finally looked over; finding my own sisters easily within the pack and disappointedly found the missing third of Pippin's sisters. "If that is what you think then so be it" I shrugged off the comment and carried on my way regardless. Although I stopped a few steps on and called over my shoulder "Pearl Took, I'm disappointed in you and sorry to say I've lost all respect for you now" and with that I carried on my way; a little faster to make up for lost time.
It wasn't far to Farmer Maggots crop field by pony and I couldn't help but grin as I heard him shouting at the top of his voice and Pippin and Merry's voices too only more subdued. "Oh boys" I sighed trotting around to the back of the field inhabited by crops which towered above our heads. The back corner being our usual escape point I dismounted Tiny and crept under the fence to gain a better look at the back of the field. Once there I saw them and two other hobbits flying out of the field and falling down the steep drop at the back before I had the chance to catch their attention. One was quite tall for a hobbit, chubby with light brown, slightly curly hair and the other; skinny, just a little shorter, with dark brown, slightly curly hair. I instantly recognised the dark haired hobbit, it had to be Frodo Baggins, the other hobbit was vaguely familiar to me although that was more of an after thought. I was more concerned as to why I was not called upon to go to Farmer Maggots'.
Frowning I wasted no time jumping the fence, mounting Tiny and followed the road around to where they had landed or, at least, where I thought they had landed. Looking around at the dirt path there was obvious disruption to it as mushrooms were missing from the clump at the side of the road; clearly they were here, just hiding. I heard muffled voices then a screech; a most unnatural, ear-splitting screech. At the the end of the road a black cloaked, hooded figure riding an armoured black stallion appeared rearing up at the sight of me and began to charge at us. I turned us around as quickly as possible, Tiny setting off like a rocket with fear as fuel. Glancing over my shoulder I caught a glimpse of Merry's bright yellow waistcoat and Pippin's blue blazer and his red cloak covering his shoulders. They spotted me instantly and proceeded to run from their hiding spot.
Looking ahead just in time, my road was blocked by another cloaked rider. Rearing up I pulled harshly at his reins steering Tiny into the trees weaving through them easily, passing through gaps the bigger riders could not. But a short while into the trees I was bucked off of Tiny as the screech came again spooking him so much so he ran back towards home; or so I hoped. Scrambling off of the floor I ran through the woods, twigs and leaves crunching under my bare hobbit feet. I pulled my cloak around me tightly as it snagged on a tree and my hood fell from my head. I forced my little legs to move faster and soon I caught up with the guys as I reached a clearing. Merry ran into the clearing and collapsed onto his back and Pippin followed suit clutching a cabbage. "What was that?" Merry demanded not gaining an answer as Frodo paused looking down at something in his hand. "Exactly what I'd like to know" I panted bent double; hands on my knees. "And who are you?" The unknown hobbit asked me. "Is that really the most important question right now?" I replied sitting myself down next to Pippin. "You forgot this" I untied the scarf from around my neck and handed it to him. "Oh thanks Ally I wondered where that had gotten to" he smiled, it was infectious and I just had to smile back while trying to hide my blush which had crept onto cheeks, but it subdued as I was painfully reminded of what Diamond had said. She was probably right, she was a lot prettier than I and had most Hobbit men wrapped around her little finger, whereas I was different; I had my hair up in such a way it looked like it was only shoulder length and my clothes were different to that of any girl Hobbit for I wore no dress - it wasn't safe to working in a Smithies, I preferred wearing a shirt, trousers and a blazer. People didn't like the difference, mocking me for it, but I had Merry and Pippin; and they didn't seem to care.
Pippin was a typical Took, cheeky face, green eyes, slightly curly dirty-golden hair and a great Tookish accent; although unlike any other Took he could be quite foolish, naïve and clumsy but that's who he was and I wouldn't want him any other way. It really was no lie I liked Pippin in a more than friends kind of way, although I knew he'd probably not return the feelings. I thought no one knew so how Diamond found out I'd never know for, of course, I kept my thoughts to myself only having Merry and Pippin to trust. "Thanks for back there I suppose" the chubby hobbit spoke again. "Yeah thanks" Merry added patting me on my back. Merry was taller by a good inch or so and only a little chunkier than Pippin, his hair was lighter but also the curliest of the pair. He took the lead in most of our 'crimes' since he was the eldest of us three. "No problem" I replied "Alvny-Silva's my name" I held out my hand. "Samwise" he returned shaking my hand. "Come on" Frodo ordered urgently turning his upturned palm into a fist; Merry, Pippin and I pulled ourselves up and we began to run again. Pippin ditched his cabbage he had swiped as we hid behind trees, hooves beginning to pound the floor too close for comfort.
It became dark quickly and I was still none the wiser as to where we were going or why. The wind picked up and Frodo went ahead as the hooves lessened. "Anything?" Hissed Sam. "Nothing" He replied and we began to close in on Frodo, to regroup where he was stood. "What is going on?" Asked Pippin as he and I caught up staggering a bit with exhaustion. "That black rider was looking for something, or someone" stated Merry as he walked up behind Frodo. "Frodo?" He posed him the statement. Frodo turned his head to Merry but before he could answer Pippin had spotted something. "Get down!" He instructed pulling me down wit
