30 July 2012

Garry and Eddie were stood in the doorway, a furious storm brewing in both their eyes. Their eyebrows were pulled together angrily and their mouths dropped open forming almost perfect o's.

"What's all the shouting about?" Dot asked sternly as the two of them entered around Eddie and Garry.

"Why aren't you wearing your shirt?" Garry asked calmly before Eddie had a chance to open his mouth to start a tempestuous rally of rants. I looked at Lewis and found both my hands still pressed to his hot chest.

"I couldn't get it on" he answered handing me the shirt. I slipped off of his lap and started to take off the cling film off his bandage first. He winced a couple of times as I accidentally put too much pressure on it. When I had got it fully off, I ran my fingers gently over his bandage and found only the edges to be slightly damp.

"See my idea worked" I smiled triumphantly

"Didn't doubt it" Lewis responded watching me.

"Oh aren't you two the sweetest couple? I bet you are happy Lewis found Adrianne with how she looks after him" Rose commented

"Oh yeah Adrianne has been a god send for him, the clumsiest man in the world" Garry replied stressing the name I had chosen, a sharp bitter tone dominant in his words. I helped Lewis get his shirt on gently bringing it up over his injured shoulder. He winced again but didn't make a noise. I pulled it over his head and directed his other arm through, then brought his shirt down over his exposed upper half. We stood together his arm over my shoulders pulling me into his side to carry on letting them think we were a happy family of sorts.

"Come on now let's get back home" Garry ushered us out Eddie still scarily silent on the matter "Thank you for what you have done for them" Garry thanked them and opened the front doors wide for us. The rain was still hammering down and was thudding against a shiny black car sat outside. Eddie pressed the key fob and the car lit up the rain.

"Adrianne may I just say you remind me so much of the young woman that used to live at the house but it's an impossibility you are related you are far too old to be her child it was 17 years ago I think..." Rose stated as she pulled me aside smiling nostalgically "Now be careful on your trip home" Lewis took hold of my hand and looped his arm around me towing me out of the shop. I cast a confused look over my shoulder at Rose my mouth opening and closing probably resembling a fish out of water as we ran to the car in the pouring rain. I jumped in the back of the car my head filling with millions of questions probably all unanswerable but needed asking all the same. The car smelt disgustingly new making me wrinkle my nose, and the symbol in the middle of the steering wheel was no longer that of Vauxhall but of four circles overlapping each other - Audi.

"New car?" I asked my fingers spidering over to Lewis' hand. He gripped it back and shot me a quick smile nervously glancing between Garry and Eddie. Either they saw the gesture and stayed quiet leaving it till they undoubtedly exploded at us when we made it back to the house or they hadn't seen it. Eddie was driving for a difference and his face was red with fury his knuckles white as he clenched the steering wheel.

"Yes" Garry answered shortly his hand clenching and unclenching at a steady pace his other hand set in a fist underneath his chin. An uncomfortable silence blew over us with the 17.5°C air con that was blowing around the car. Lewis sat forward letting go of my hand running both hands through his hair then over his face. Eddie glanced back, even though he was driving, the speed increasing. Suddenly we came to a corner that, while Eddie was preoccupied glancing back at Lewis he missed slightly and ended up slamming the brakes on. We skidded to the side as he turned the wheel trying to keep us on the road. I gripped Lewis' hand and Eddie's seat in front. I squeezed my eyes shut but was met with the scenes of earlier today flashing vividly in front of my eyes. The feeling of falling, rolling around the back of that car overriding everything my brain was trying to tell me. As we screeched to a stop my hands were shaking and I scrambled for the door handle.

"I gotta get out" I mumbled yanking at the door but found it locked "OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!" I yelled the locking snapped open and I tugged the door open almost falling out as my legs were shaking so much. The rain was letting up, now only a slight patter but enough to soak if you were out in it long enough. Lewis jumped out of the car and pulled me quickly into his body. I clutched onto his shirt my breathing jagged against his neck my body shaking.

"It's ok" he repeated wrapping his arms around my shoulders tightly "You're safe, I'm here I'm not going to let anyone hurt you" he whispered calmly deep into my ear, his mouth so close his lips brushed against it. "I'm here, Garry's here, Eddie's here, it's fine the cars on four wheels and I got rid of those guys didn't I?" he asked I nodded against him trying to control my breathing. He stroked the back of my hair down gently moving my head so our foreheads were touching, his fingers tangling up in my damp hair.

"Thank you" I whispered still grasping his shirt in fists, he dropped his hand from my head resting both on my shoulders as we heard the other car doors opening.

"You don't realise how much I want to kiss you right now" he mumbled his eyes flicking down to my lips and back up to my eyes.

"Yeah but I'm thinking they aren't going to be too happy and might not wait until we get back to kill you" I warned him, Lewis rolled his eyes disappointment rising in them.

"That's the problem, you have the equivalent of two dads" he sighed

"Get back in the car" Eddie growled slamming the door behind him.

"What was that all about?" Garry asked as we climbed in the car holding hands for them to see clearly, Eddie starting to drive again.

"I- I'll tell you when we get back, it's been a long day" I replied suddenly feeling sleepy resting my head on Lewis's shoulder.

"I think you're purposefully trying to get me into more trouble" he muttered into my ear so only I could hear. I smiled, looking up to his handsome face and nodding.

"It's my sole ambition in life" I responded as we pulled up outside the house. We all got out and quickly made our way to the front door. Garry unlocked the door and I immediately kicked my shoes off, stepping lightly across the room to my bedroom to get changed, whereas Lewis went to sit on one of the dining chairs, Eddie and Garry sat opposite him. I changed into my black and white stripy pajama bottoms and black tank top. I hid behind the wall listening to what was being said.

"YOU DISOBEYED A DIRECT ORDER SOLDIER!" Eddie thundered.

"I can't help the way I feel" Lewis defended

"SHE'S SIXTEEN!" Eddie yelled

"She's basically seventeen" he replied - silence followed.

"She's still too young!"

"It's only 5 years difference between us!"

"You have a fucking answer for everything don't you?"

"That's because I don't want to lose her!" both chairs scraped against the floor in protest as they were shoved back the two men standing, slamming their hands on the table.

"SIT DOWN! We're going to have to tell Daniel about this you know that" Garry said calmly not one to shout that much. What who the fuck is Daniel? "Mr Redgrove sorry" Garry corrected himself, my dad is called Daniel Redgrove! Someone get me a computer or a phone that can actually get on the fucking internet!

"She can hear you" Eddie stated, I held my breath not wanting to be found eavesdropping.

"No she can't she's in her room" Garry replied

"DELILAH!" Eddie shouted, I tiptoed my way back to my room careful not to make the door creak too much before turning around leaving enough gap before my response.

"Say something?" I called back

"Doesn't matter! Go back to your room!" he replied and I shut my door convincingly, with me on the outside, and I tiptoed my way back to where I was stood before.

"So as I was saying we're going to have to tell Mr Redgrove of this" Garry restated

"I understand" Lewis sighed

"It could result in being terminated from this operation" Garry added his voice void of any emotion.

"What? No! Don't I c- I can't be" he gasped

"I'm afraid you could or you would be stationed as an overseer, watching the operations from afar never making contact" my breath stuck in my throat I couldn't lose him I'd only just found him. Found someone I trusted and felt safe with that wasn't Garry or Eddie, someone who was close to my age, who was willing to protect me through literally anything as I saw today.

"Don't get rid of him" I pipped up stepping out from behind the wall and from the shadows the wall cast Lewis's eyes widening with hope as my eyes locked with his.

"I thought you'd have a say in this" Eddie sighed

"Yeah because funnily enough this is MY life" I retorted "As much as you two hate the thought of us, may think I'm too young, Lewis too old, too different as it's his job, my life. We have strong feelings for each other. He protected me and saved me when I thought I was lost for good, and I tried to help him as much as I could, I couldn't stand to see him injured and did everything I could to help him and he, me. He pulled all the glass from my hands and cleaned them up" I defended him walking closer our eyes connecting again. A wave of relief that I was here, fighting for him, washed over his face, smiling at me waking a few thousand butterflies in my stomach. I took his hand and settled myself on his lap, his arms hesitantly at first, wrapping protectively around my stomach pulling me close.

"But you do understand he disobeyed a direct order Delilah, out in Afghanistan he'd have gotten his team in serious danger if he did and most likely sent home" Garry explained both leaning forward on the table.

"But we're fine not in any serious danger because we have strong feelings for each other" I argued

"Yes but, I wasn't going to say
