Children
Have you ever noticed how children maybe the wisest of all of us. I believe that children are wise, because they haven't had enough time to let adults corrupt them. Have you ever noticed that children know right from wrong better than most adults. I had a teacher who had a niece adopted from Guatemala. They're all white. One day they went out to get pizza. They were sitting at the table, and a guy walked by. "God, why can't you guys stick to one color." he said. Then he walked off. The little girl looked at her family. "What's wrong with being brown." she said with tears in her eyes. I remember how our teacher told her this story with tears in her eyes. I have a five year old niece named Taylor. I remember one day she came home from kindergarten crying. She told us that a little boy in her class hit her today. She kept saying she didn't understand. "Why would somebody be so mean?" she cried. I told her I don't know why, and I felt hatred for this boy. But she did not. "Aunt Sarah," she told me, "don't be mad at him feel sad for him. Because he doesn't know how to be nice." I wish I were as wise as Taylor. But I suppose as we grow older are innocence is replaced with the hatred and hostility we gathered as a child. I believe something we need to strive for is the wisdom of a child.
