I can never let you go But I can't let you win You grasped hold of my heart Quickly forcing your way in
When you break my heart It shatters just like glass A million pieces shining brightly It happens just so fast!
I can't let you see how You cause me so much pain So instead I disguise my tears By crying in the rain
But what do I do in summer sun How can I hide it from you? I won't let you see how my eyes water It's hurtful to say but true
So I pick up a pair of sunglasses Fragile like my broken love Yet they endure the burning heat That streams from up above
You can't see my hurt If behind my shades I hide You will never see the damage That you do me inside
This broken way of being Seems to be just fine You never notice what you do And I never show a sign
It takes just a word for you To show how I'm just there You never comment on my clothes Or the way I've done my hair
It doesn't matter how I dress To me it's much the same But I do it to impress you To make you say my name
We're together but I'm lonely Like we're gulfs apart Separated by an unfeeling sea Or the cracks of a broken heart
It's painful to see you ignore me I'm almost beyond despair You say you love me but you lie You couldn't really care
So I shall hide my inner turmoil All that trouble and strife And I may have to leave you So I can save my own life
