The beautiful princess, Eliza May Was riding the same as every day On the back of her noble steed While suitors told her of their deeds She turned them down, every one For she wished no more than to be gone Far from this kingdom small and dreary Of courts and balls she had grown weary She wanted adventure, to explore the land And she didn't want to give her hand One day maybe she'd settle down But for now she wanted to leave this town Travel the world and see the sights Climb mountainous peaks to dizzying heights, Row all the rivers, sail the seas Feel the wind in her hair, a summer breeze Walk each day with the sun at her back And marvel each night at the sky painted black The king however did not agree That this was a suitable for a lady She was locked in a room, in the tallest tower, Not very imaginative from the man in power He guarded her door with men dressed in steel, And left her in there with a spinning wheel But she refused to sit and weep At her situation, held in the keep Instead she concocted and plotted her way Into having a chance for escape one day She was sometimes allowed into the hall To dance at her fathers numerous balls, With her cunning the guards were deceived Eliza was finally free and relieved She scaled the walls just like a cat No longer being a spoilt brat At last she could be herself And with the impoverished share her wealth For she had packed her finest gowns Silken, bejewelled, fit for a crown For them she could command a high price With it she'd pay for meat and rice The royal princess, saving lives In the freedom where she thrives.
