The rhythmic rocking of the boat Soothed my tired mind And soon I left my troubles ashore Left all my worries behind All alone in the wild expanse That is the open sea I settled down for some quality time With I, myself and me The waves whispered gently With a lovers blessed murmur I could happily call this home Far from terra firma Slipping silently across the calm I could feel the tracks of tears Cleansing me of all the grime Of discontented years While my mind was unburdened I found myself again Staring back from glassy waters Washed clean of my stains I'd lost myself long ago And never said goodbye Never realised that I was missing As all those years flew by I'd lived inside an empty shell And not fulfilled my dreams The ones I had when I was young But now the sea redeems I'd given myself another chance By fleeing towards hope By lassoing my sturdy vessel With the moonlight as my rope Then I finally put my past to rest I decided to just let me be It's not about where my ship comes in What matters is the journey.
