Beauty is in the eye of the beholder The truth if ever it was spoken But beauty isn't bleach blond hair It's the strength of someone broken

It's the smile of that little boy Whom cancer ravaged inside It's in his parents silent tears Which they don't try to hide

It's in the freedom of a prisoner Held captive in innocent light When true justice is finally served The system gets it right

It's in the kindness of a neighbour Helping the woman next door She's just lost her husband Age finally won the war

It's in the fragility of flowers On a rainy day in June And in the song of bluebirds Soft love songs they do croon

It's in the drawings from daddy's girl Drawn by a soldiers daughter She's wearing a little pink dress It's like the one he bought her

It's in the elderly couples hands Held together in many embraces It's in the true expression of love Written on both of their faces

It's in the uncontrollable joy Of a child with gifts on Christmas day It's never happened to him before Not since his parents went away

It's in the sober smile of a father Who's life was blighted by drink But the fear in his baby's eyes Caused him to stop and think

It's in the sense of forgiveness The peace that ends the fight It is in the twinkling stars That sweetly adorn the night

It is found in the grateful eyes Of a newborn baby's mother It's in the delight of a little girl For the first time seeing her brother

It is in the reunion of family The wiping clean of slates The accepting hug of father and son Tension evaporates

Beauty isn't soft red lips Or skin as white as snow Beauty is found in true emotion This everyone should know.
