Wild fortunes and a travellers tales, Trekking across the country dales, from south to west to north to east from butterfly to savage beast The changing tides and moody weather The rippling river and violet heather The cliff top crags and nesting birds To writers houses rich with words Towering buildings clutching at clouds The busiest streets and noisiest crowds The deserted mountaintop meadow in spring Waiting for what the next breeze will bring The taste of salt from the seaside air Watching waves curl and crash with flair Old roman forts, or castles or walls Tossed up together with old country halls Fantasy forests roll alongside a river, The snow settles in with a violent shiver The heat of the sun is a midsummer dream Like the sparkling shallows of shimmering streams I've seen it all, through my awestruck eyes, So why is my world a constant surprise?
