Chapter 12, An Early Birth

The smell of peroxide chemical filled the entire initiative headquarters. Silence could be heard throughout the halls. Every staff member was located in one tiny, cramped, examining room.

22 HOURS EARLIER

Alarms echoed off the initiative walls, every staff member ready and alert at the sound. Maggie Walsh stopped examining the 'unconscious' vampire when she heard the loud alarms blaring in the tightly encased room. Riley Finn ran through the metal sliding doors,"Hostile 311 is in labor, Ms.Walsh." His breathing was labored and he sat in the doorway, thumb pointed in the direction of the way that she was needed in.

Maggie smiled evilly, the white gloves that were stained red, soon discarded in the metal trash bin."Make sure hostile 278 is returned safely to his cell." She spoke, leaving Riley to tend to the unconscious vampire.

When Maggie entered, she saw Buffy, hunched over and screaming. Her delicate features contorted in agony."Hello, Buffy."

Buffy looked at her, and held her hands protectively on her stomach.

"See, I told you that the shot was harmless-" Maggie smirked and cut herself off,"For you anyways. And, quite possibly your hell spawn."

Buffy felt the change begin. Her nails grew longer, thick, and sharper. Her hands curled in and created small paws, as well as her feet. Her nose grew long into a snout, and her torso grew like one of a wolf. Silver fur sprouted all over her body. She let out a predatorily growl at the older woman.

Maggie turned around, another dreaded needle in her hand, held high like a flag. White latex gloves adorned her stealthy hands, and a mask covered everything below her nose."Welcome to birthing 101, dear."

Everything went black in Buffy's world as she was injected with yet another needle. ___________________________________________

Angelus sat in a corner of the all glass containment. He eyed the red blood, stored in a package labeled 'Weakening Food'. He wondered if the bitch who'd put him in here, really thought they couldn't read.

The glass cell door opened mechanically and a half awake vampire was thrown into the cell with him. As soon as the guard left, the vampire sighed and opened his eyes widely. He looked at Angelus and said,"I'm Amos. You are?" Angelus simply looked away like he was tired and uninterested."C'mon man, looks like we are paired off as roommates, might as well get to know each other." Amos spoke.

"Angelus." He replied as he watched all the staff members running to the same corridor as one another. Angelus gestured with his head in the direction the frenzy that was the staff, were going to."What's up with the psychos?"

Amos looked excited and began to talk,"There's a pregnant werewolf in here. She just went into labor, I guess. I just feel bad for the unfortunate tyke."

Angelus' brown eyes went wide as Amos' words sunk in."No!" He spoke shaking his head, in denial of the situation he was in. He turned to the other man,"You need to help me get out, NOW!" He grabbed Amos' blood stained shirt and hauled him up the white wall.

Amos grew worried for his own health. He held his hands up as a gesture to calm,"Calm down dude, what's the big?" He asked nervously.

Angelus released Amos' shirt, and he floor with a loud thud."NO! YOU don't underSTAND! That's MY child!" Angelus banged on the indestructible glass, ignoring the burns he was gaining on his balled fists.

"Man, I'm sorry. There's no way out." Amos sounded truly sorry.

"No..." Angelus let his form fall limply to the floor.

He didn't cry when he was 7 and his grandfather died. He didn't cry when he was 10 and his dog ran away. He didn't cry when he was 16, and learnt that his life was being thrown down the drain because he was taking over his fathers business at age 23.

For the first time in his 18 years, he let his defenses down. He cried for him. He cried for his beloved mate. And he cried for his child that he may never get to meet.
