Genevieve looked madly around as the approaching demons closed the space between themselves and her team. They sought desperately after the humans, their demonic hunger giving them an energy that downright terrified Genevieve. But she couldn't let it show. Not here, when she knew she had battled worse. She knew that her party leaders, Alistair and Roxanne, they had battled worse. Genevieve was just the new girl. The new girl who was quickly running out of clean smallclothes, as it seemed. Her eyes widened in fear as more demons poured upon them, swarming to their essence like enraged bees. Behind them, tearing to get to the warriors first, were the Shrieks, with their long claws and lithe bodies, running on all fours when they had the room. "No, no...Roxanne! There's too many!" Genevieve shouted over the wailing and roaring of the encroaching monsters. Roxanne, her black hair brushed back enough to only just cover her left eye, shot a look that spoke many things in one instant. Don't worry. I've got your back. Genevieve let a hint of a smile as the first demon reached Roxanne, and was quickly beheaded. Alistair pushed one back into its comrades with the brute force of his shield. Rowan, with his staff glowing all sorts of colors, fired a wave of electricity into the horde, which caused many of them to fall, their corpses smoldering. The hunter, Avira, stood atop a hill overlooking the scene, firing arrow after arrow into a demon or a Shriek, while her hound, Nytro, barreled into them, tearing off body parts or armor. It was impressive how powerful and brave Genevieve's friends were. She wanted to be just like Roxanne, who had recruited her only a few weeks ago. So she strived for that goal, and with a small effort, Genevieve managed to completely disembody a demon that had attempted to grab a hold of her. She sliced a silverite dagger through its midsection, then turned and cut off its arms. She roared with gusto as she cut into its eye sockets and quickly turned to the next demon, which was making its move onto Nytro. She ran it through, knocking it off the hound. Nytro gave a thankful yip, and then jumped back into the fray. Genevieve rolled her eyes as she listened in on Alistair and Roxanne's mid-battle conversation. "Wait a second...you said you got the left while I got the right..." Alistair laughed to Roxanne as he swiped his sword through the middle of a Shriek. Roxanne shot underneath him, stabbing an oncoming demon in the process. She kissed him on the lips, just a brief peck, before she replied. "Oh Alistair...you know I am very unpredictable." she smirked before she spun around and out from under him, obviously some sort of inside joke. "And flexible," he added with the same smirk. She blushed as she cut into a second demon, leaving it to spasm and wretch. Genevieve continued to cut down into the onslaught, laughing as a few began to retreat into the shadows. "That's right, you evil bastards!" she shouted at them. "Run away!" Avira laughed with her, calling Nytro back to her side. The hound didn't obey, and instead he continued to happily tear flesh and bone. That dog.
When the battle was over, Genevieve lazily slumped on the ground. She sighed contentedly as Avira sat beside her, crossing her legs. Nytro joined them, plopping on the ground beside his mistress. Genevieve turned her head towards her other party members, Alistair, Roxanne, and Rowan. Rowan sat by himself, with his nose in a book. Alistair and Roxanne, however, sat near the fire, holding hands. Genevieve marveled at how much they were attached to each other. They had been this way since the last village they had passed. Apparently, according to Avira, Alistair had given their leader a gift. "They're quite the match, aren't they?" Avira asked. Genevieve nodded without looking away from them. She watched as Roxanne lay her head on Alistair's shoulder. Those two warriors. They were so perfect together. "Lucky bastard, isn't he?" Rowan spoke as he walked up to Genevieve and Avira. "How so?" Genevieve asked, sitting up. "Look at her. She's fit to be a queen, she's beautiful and smart and she is brave. Of course he would fall in love with her." he answered her. Genevieve understood then. No, Rowan wasn't jealous, but he was a bit disappointed. He apparently hadn't expected that she would fall in love with him. Avira smiled. "Two warriors that fought and felt love." she sighed, and Nytro whined happily. Genevieve nodded again. So let it be.
