My friend asked me what my favourite film is and all I could think of is the Legend of 1900.
It is not a great film I admit, not even very logical, but it has the power to draw you into the pure and alien world it pictures, the world on a giant ship. 1900 (a pianist on the ship) is extremely talented in music but like all other geniuses, he is not good with humans.
The whole story seems unbelievable yet so true -- someone who's never stepped down a ship for his entire life ... I used to put it as that 1900 is afraid of humans, but then I realised that a more reasonable explanation would be that he is afraid of the unknowns, the society on the land.
We are all timid in some ways, afraid of changes and unwilling to make the first move. We are like child in a comfy bed, afraid of going out and facing the cold weather.
I cannot say 1900 is right or wrong. I love him, cos he is a human who is so fragile and yet so brave.
