I shall not waste any more

Clear skies and long goodbyes

On trivialities and melancholy,

For days skip past, impelled on,

And ever forward by the incessant

Turning of the earth and

Rising, setting of the dying sun,

The battle for existence,

Ever lost and never won,

All doomed by that persistent

Reality of our own mortality,

As we regard the lengthening

Of our shadows with growing

Dark hostility,

There can be no place for more

Debilitating indecision,

In the race to which there is

Only one final destination,

I shall make a grand impression;

The journey is the mark I make,

My life the route I choose to take,

For, as every man and woman before,

Death, the falling boarding call,

Shall strike my life from the record,

As we all become just a fragment

Of history, forgotten by but a few,

For not who we are, but what we do.

So throw off regrets and fears,

If I live but one more year,

I shall live it full, and make my mark,

Before my eyes lose life's spark.
