I've got shards of you
Down my fingernails,
Under my skin,
Tangled in my
Matted hair,
Sharp, piercing,
Like pieces of a
Mirror, crushed and crumbling,
But still shining,
Reflecting our old glory,
Fragments of an imploded star,
Hot-white beautiful,
They light me up from within,
Aglow with what we
Could have been,
But lash-cut-tear my flesh,
A million tiny pinprick needles,
Drawing spots of blood on
Hands and arms,
Face and fingers,
You've touched, scarred,
Ruined every inch of me,
With your imperfect-perfection,
Your poetry in motion,
And every kiss
Rubs salt and fire,
Burning, into the life-wide
Wound you've left behind,
I'll tattoo over every mark,
A permanent reminder
Of the love and hate and pain and joy
I find in every shard.
