"You have the most amazing eyes," I said, drawn into his gaze as if hypnotised. I wasn't spinning a line, he really did have the most outstanding eyes; like cracked green amber melted around a core of the deepest night sky, a flicker of gold splashed through the iris like a handful of tiny stars had been trapped within.

"That's what women always say," he frowned, "right before they go and find someone better looking to kiss." He swigged his beer sadly, those intoxicating eyes downcast and glassy.

I pulled him into a consoling hug, his body warm and inviting against mine.

"But," I whispered, his cheek only millimetres away from my lips, "I don't think there is anyone better looking than you."

He turned, his eyes now dark and fixed firmly on mine. Slowly I leant in and kissed him, his lips like warm satin. His tongue slid purposefully into my mouth, his hands now pulling my body against him. His kiss tasted just how I imagined; sweet, with a fading hint of beer and tobacco. He pulled away, a smile spreading from his lips all the way to those precious gemstone eyes.

"It's not just your eyes that are amazing," I sighed and before I could say any more his lips were on mine again, the rest of the world fading out of existence.
