The adrenaline Is already coursing, Through every vein, I'm like a runner On the blocks, Waiting for the Release of the Starting shot. Heart pumping, Thumping, Against my fragile Rib cage, Beating out The sound of Your name. Butterflies are born And die In my stomach, Life-cycle repeating Over and over, Until I'm full of Their fluttering. Bite my nails To ragged stubs, Twist-pull My hair out From the roots, Shaking, Aching, Twitching, Over-thinking; Can't concentrate On anything, Crack my fingers, Curl my toes. Pace the room, Dust, vacuum, Mop, broom, Just for something To do, Filling time Until tomorrow, When I see you.
