Midnight Snack - Part I

A start of a story I know is there in my head, rest to come soon hopefully!

Curtains and relish makes a tasty dish for the moths but for those of us non insects it's just a mess to clean up. If only relish was the worst of my problems. The sauce seems to have been ejected mid flight from a cheeseburger that now lay about the room, the half eaten meat patty glued to the television screen by the now solidified molten cheese. I can only guess the burger was catapulted from the splintered table that someone or something crashed into. All this mild chaos soon pales in comparison to the unknown tale of the severed index finger floating in a pint glass full of pink milk. Glancing down to do a quick head count of my wiggling digits, feelings surprise and relief wash over me. Surprised because the bobbing pointer is wearing my ring, relief that the rings former home was still attached firmly to my hand along with all his brothers and sisters. With mingled curosity and disgust I fish out finger and retrieve my ring, it was just a cheap ring with a little bit of scroll detail laser cut into it, no real value but it was a nice ring and the less evidence connecting me to what ever went on here the better.

Looking at the disembodied digit all I can tell was it was severed just above the knuckle that attached it to the hand, and it looked like it was chewed off. Not a clean cut but a ragged ending with a smooth white bone protruding grotesquely out the end, apart from that not much else gave away the identity of it's owner, nails went bitten short or grew long, it didn't have nail polish and was slightly bloated and pruney from it's soak in the quickly souring milk.
