(from Ode to Melancholy)
There is a world of silver sunsets And the darkest nights It is a place where one forgets And the truth is hidden by a shadow of lights
Upon the grave in midnight glow I hear the cry of a child's heart Listening to the tone, so well I know Feeling its pain from end to start
Inlay here on the naked bone Enduring the slash of silver rays Sing to me sweet mother, alone Kiss me with your mindless days
I shall live for eternity Slumbered low in this mournful world Living without confraternity In this place so worn and knurled
There is a world of silver sunsets And the blackest nights Where clouds are smoke from cigarettes And we are all but mere parasites
