The Manakin Blues (Manakin Poet Part 2)

I am singing the manakin blues
Losing my time in shop windows too
Lazy to even dream of you

Tonight, statued and unclothed
Featureless but with the most
Beautiful smile I have ever known

Drinking alone, I wait until
Your plastic eyes get their fill
Of mine and your plastic ears

Listen to my manakin blues
Just wishing you were here
Outside, looking in to my

Heart bleeds hollow fibre 'whys?'
And the Gap between us is as wide
As a clothes shop glass window

Don't you know me manakin?
Don't you see me staring in?
Your silence tearing me limb from limb?

And she keeps on smiling, true
Love can sometimes be as gruelling
As an old man singing

The Manakin Blues

@paintingskies lol! We have a friend who is also afraid of them. He used to have nightmares. Remember those old, Old Navy commercials with the mannequins? You guys must have hates those! 😬

@ckahn I do remember those! They were funny! But my fear of mannequin s comes from my grandma taking my sister and I to the hospital she used to work at to give us a tour. Mannequins were everywhere- on the beds, some even talked. It was soo scary and weird. 😂😁
